Democratic Camera — a long-overdue retrospective of work by William Eggleston — celebrates the career of an artist who's widely recognized as the father of color photography. Shots from three decades of Eggleston's most active years include works from Los Alamos, films, and black-and-white images. He began using color-negative film in 1965, printing by dye-transfer, which gave his work a commercial aesthetic. Through his use of color, Eggleston was able to deliver a close look at our extraordinary world.
