The Bang on a Can All-Stars blend solemn choral arrangements with wistful eastern melodies and frenetic, often tropically inflected percussion. Formed by three composers in 1987, the group is dedicated to creating unconventional contemporary music and making it as broadly accessible as possible. We have to wait till June for their annual overnight marathon, but tonight they bring their unique and stimulating genre-bending repertoire to Manhattan's latest haven for progressive music, Poisson Rouge
