With the economy still aping a rollercoaster, Williamsburg kitchenware boutique (and local foodie hangout) the Brooklyn Kitchen has decided to celebrate its second anniversary, erm, frugally. At Union Pool tonight, noodly enthusiasts, cheapskate gourmands, and creative cooks the borough over convene to celebrate the Kitchen and compete in the Ramen-Off. Go stock up at your local bodega and design your update of this college classic. Broth isn't compulsory — and neither is the flavor packet, much to the relief of MSG-phobes, we're sure. Local chefs and food bloggers are judging, so now's your chance to wow palates more discerning than your stoner roommate's.
