MoMA The Museum of Modern Art says…

Americans generally look to Super Bowl Sunday for advertising at its finest. Across the pond, it's the annual British Television Advertising Awards, a tribute to choice consumer TV spots that excel in art direction, humor, creativity, excess, and expense. About a hundred ads for cars, candy, and pharmaceuticals — employing persuasive techniques far-flung and bizarre — comprise this crop of honorees. Everyone knows that sex sells, but that gorilla playing Phil Collins' drum part on "In the Air Tonight" was one example of a successful campaign that thought well outside most boxes. Amid this year's penny pinching, MoMA's program might be just the thing to stimulate your buying muscles, or, at the very least, a cozy alternative to window shopping.
