The Wordless Music series continues its flawless run with a night featuring two giants of instrumental music. Quite possibly the most restless laptop-wanderer working today, Kieran Hebden makes it a point to never repeat himself. From the airy electronic folk of Pause to the Afrobeat-influenced techno of last year's Ringer, Hebden coerces sound from his deck that is otherworldly, yet still firmly rooted in the musical traditions of the past. Steve Reid, with whom Hebden has collaborated on four albums, is no slouch either, having played drums for Miles Davis and Fela Kuti, among other luminaries. Tonight, the two perform work from their cooperative efforts, including the recently released NYC.
