Béla Fleck and the Flecktones fuse plucky bluegrass, complex jazz riffs, and catchy pop melodies to make "blu-bop" — a genre Fleck's been working on since he picked up the banjo in high school. This week's rare club appearance and Blue Note debut is part of Fleck's support of his recently grammy-nominated Christmas album Jingle All the Way. The eclectic album features a fast-paced rendition of "Silent Night," a hypnotic throat singing "Jingle Bells," and a spirited "Danse of the Sugar Plum Fairies." We can't think of a better way to get in the holiday spirit.
