There's a lot of Oscar buzz building over Mickey Rourke's performance in The Wrestler, but does Darren Aronofsky's movie live up to the hype? Critics at the Venice Film Festival (where it won the Golden Lion award) seem to think so. The tale of a retired fighter who faces imminent death in one last battle, The Wrestler is nothing short of a Hollywood resurrection for Rourke, who beat out Nick Cage for the role. Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood also deliver sturdy performances as Rourke's stripper girlfriend and estranged daughter, respectively.
