The oldies circuit has always been a gamble. You had the ringers in the Drifters (without any original members) legally touring under that name. And then there was Mike Love cheesing up his legacy with "Kokomo," sans Brian Wilson. So we understand if a show by the Shirelles without singer and namesake Shirley Owens raises your defenses. But, their starry-eyed doo-wop classics were so taughtly constructed, they're almost un-ruinable (Bryan Ferry and Amy Winehouse are among the dozens who've recorded solid versions of "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?"). Plus, with original Shirelle Beverly Lee there to belt out standards like "Soldier Boy" and "Mama Said" after 50 years as a Shirelle, you can consider their Hall of Fame cred safe.
