Once a poster-cum-whipping-boy for the tumultuous '90s alternative/grunge scene, Evan Dando's post-addiction (though still chemically adventurous) solo career is as much a tip-of-the-hat to alt-country pioneer Gram Parsons as it is a cathartic awakening of one of the decade's stray tumbleweeds. Nostalgic tales of drug abuse and simple three-chord progressions backstop the Lemonheads frontman's lazy, mellifluous voice tonight at Southpaw.
