Another Calder show, The Paris Years, is on display at the Whitney through February 19, with a focus on wire portraits and circus animals.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art says…

He may be best known for his innovative mobiles and wire sculptures, but as his current show at the Met attests, Alexander Calder also had considerable skills in the more delicate art of body adornment. Culled from the nearly 1,800 pieces crafted during his lifetime, the 90 on display had mostly been gifted to family and friends. Incorporating precious metals with found objects like beach glass and discarded bits of ceramic, Calder's work in this medium keeps to the playful, free-flowing forms that served as his signature.
