We humans don't like to acknowledge that domesticated dogs are mostly abominations of nature, selectively bred for ridiculous features like wrinkly skin, short legs, or smashed faces. In fact, if humanity were to disappear today, man's best friend would go the way of the dinosaur. Still, watching a bunch of dogs parading around has got to be one of the most primal joys for homo sapiens. Tonight, the Westminster Kennel Club presents its 132nd-annual dog show, where a bunch of stuffy-looking people fondle, measure, and judge around 2,500 panting, yelping, wagging bundles of scientifically bred joy.
