School of Visual Arts says…

Like many performance artists, Janine Antoni exploits her own body's potential. Her past projects involved the artist painting a gallery floor with her hair, eating chocolate replicas of herself, and washing herself with a bust made of lard; early works included 1992's Gnaw, for which Antoni chewed down a massive block of chocolate and regurgitated it to create a heart-shaped candy box. Recently, Antoni's projects have involved tightrope walking, tapping the balancing act's rich metaphorical implications. At SVA tonight, Antoni talks about her practice over the past two decades.
