Matt Leines' New York solo debut features his signature drawings, an installation, and a new, limited-edition series of flags. Leines, who studied illustration at RISD, is steeped in the freaky-folk style of Providence's underground. Intricate patterns, creepy bearded characters, floating mystical eyes, and a whole menagerie of animals — these are the recurring figures in Leines' stream-of-consciousness productions, which echo mythological tales, Homeric epics, and biblical stories.
