Music: DJ Soul Summit with DJ Spinna and Strafe

DJ collective Soul Summit Music is best known for its neighborhood jams in Fort Greene Park; tonight, the Soul Summit folks drag their instruments down the street for an indoor funk session at nearby BAM. Brooklyn also welcomes two more of its own stars home: Strafe, whose seminal 1984 track "Set It Off" has been sampled dozens of times, and DJ Spinna, who was a key player in the '90s indie-rap uprising. While Strafe has wandered toward the electronic side and spins hard-hitting house, Spinna reps old-school hip-hop ancestry with a dose of Stevie-loving soul.
