As technology slowly stretches past the limits of sci-fi fantasy, designers must work within the rapidly evolving space between scientific innovation and consumer culture. In exploring the products of the day, as well as future possibilities, curator Paola Antonelli also examines the arc of design innovation, from ancient techniques to cutting-edge fabrications. Janne Kyttanen's laser-sintered furniture, inspired by bird bones, balances against the mathematical intricacies of Robert J. Lang's origami scenes; elsewhere, Brendan Dawes' Cinema Redux distills films into single-frame statements, and Future Farmers displays some travel-friendly farm tools — including a pogo-stick shovel and a lunchbox lab.
