Music: Jazz/Blues Travis Sullivan's Björkestra

A jazz tribute to Björk's idiosyncratic oeuvre may sound tantamount to heresy, but Björkestra treats each song with reverence. The 18-piece jazz collective, led by saxophonist Travis Sullivan, takes the compositions' existing modern-jazz elements and lavish orchestral arrangements and lifts them to the next level. Singer Becca Stevens would never be confused for the avant-popstress, but her vocal interpretations are pleasantly heartfelt and bring a finesse of their own to the lyrics. Songs like Hyperballad and It's Oh So Quiet, lushly made-over, take listeners on a breezy, lighthearted musical journey — one that the intense Icelander could probably use herself.
