To tag Dälek as a hip-hop act alone is a major (if all-too-common) mistake. Yes, their discordant, squalling compositions do sometimes feature rapped vocals, but that's just one element the duo throws into each fiery, apocalyptic production. In fact, it's sometimes difficult to pick out the low murmurs of lyrics among the sea of reverb, discordant strings, and blaring synths. Dälek are also renowned for full-throttle, full-volume live performances, and new album Abandoned Language continues to pick up plaudits.
