Formulaic 'hood classics and Def Comedy Jam reruns wither and die in the face of this weekend's lineup of local standup talent. Founded by two of the festival's performers — Elon James White and Baron Vaughn — the Black Comedy Experiment hosts three days of boundary-pushing, side-splitting shows. Preppy "oreo kid" Jordan Carlos plays the token black friend, vigilante pundit Baratunde Thurston addresses absurdity in American politics, and Leighann Lord searches for guilt-gifts from trifling men.
