Wednesdays–Sundays (noon–6pm)
At the LES' cozy Amy Smith Stewart gallery, Jen DeNike presents two new videos and a photo series, disparate projects united by a recurring motif (we'll let you guess what it is). In Flag Girls, six young women wrapped in an oversized colonial American flag hum "The Star-Spangled Banner"; they then unravel themselves one by one and step off the stage. Gold Star appropriates a Scandinavian pagan ritual as five naked, moaning men circle a pile of robes and star-appointed hats. A circular series of 18 photographic collages combines Hubble telescope images of deep space (yes, stars are involved) with figures using nautical flags to spell out "What Do You Believe In."
