Art Asian Contemporary Art Week

Asian Contemporary Art Week corrals dozens of artists for countless shows and lectures. At Ch'i, some of China's fresher faces work in the shadow of the Guggenheim and megastars like Cai Guo-Qiang. In two reverent counterpoints to Takashi Murakami's upcoming manga-maniacal spectacle, the Onishi Gallery and the Japan Society exhibit contemporary approaches to cherry blossoms and the ancient Japanese art of lacquering. At the Asia Society, India's Subodh Gupta furnishes TamarindART's Creative Circle: Indian Contemporaries with some valuable context and discusses the subcontinent's recent groundswell of art alongside collector Arani Bose of Chelsea's Bose Pacia.
