Music: Rock/Pop Black 47

With the Pogues' Shane MacGowan about as reliable as a narcoleptic night watchman these days, it's good to know there is another option for St. Patrick's Day revelry. New York's own Black 47 have been inspiring tearful beer hoists and impromptu sing-alongs for nearly 20 years with their rowdy Celtic rock, and tonight, they end their tour in support of their sharply anti-war new record, Iraq. The album's lyrics are written from the perspective of an American soldier — but leave it to an Irish-American sextet (which takes its name from the worst year of the Irish potato famine) to combine gloomy subject matter with Strummer-worthy fist-pumpers.
