More Flavor: Lecture A Rare Book Evening feat. Arthur L. Schwarz

Though bibliophiles and collectors may salivate over an original 1456 edition of the Gutenberg Bible, most people find it difficult to imagine dropping upwards of $25 million on what is ostensibly a stack of paper. As a result, rare-book collecting is often considered a pastime only viable for wealthy eccentrics and overendowed libraries. Arthur L. Schwarz, however, is evidence to the contrary. A lifelong book lover and antiquarian, he comes to the 92nd Street Y to share his enthusiasm and wisdom through an engaging lecture on this peculiar obsession. Participants are invited to handle and examine texts from the past 500 years, making it an opportunity as unique as its subject matter.
