Music: DJ The Rub and DJ Lindsey present The Rap Party

Celebrating the 21st installment of their History of Hip-Hop series on Brooklyn Radio, all-city party champs the Rub break it down tonight like their podcast: chronologically. Travel from the simpler times of '79, with classics like Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five's "Superappin'" (all lyrics at the time seemed to be about rapping), to the dawn of the gangsta in '88, when NWA's "Boyz-N-the-Hood" turned inner-city warfare fashionable. Party through the '90s and into today, as backpackers, syrup-voiced Southerners, and tales of slinging rock all find a way to coexist on the dance floor.
