Art Lady Pink and Aiko: Brick Ladies of NYC

Brick Ladies of NYC celebrates Lady Pink and Aiko Nakagawa, longstanding heavy hitters in both the street-art scene and the modern-art collections of the Brooklyn Museum and the Met. Aiko came up in the Faile collective, and continues to invoke pop-art influences from Hello Kitty to Lichtenstein with iconic images of bunnies, scantily clad vixens, and children that are equal parts sinister and sweet. Lady Pink's reign as graffiti's grande dame has only grown stronger with a nod from Kid Robot and her starring role in the recent documentary Spraymasters. Pink paints an earthy-urban mix of curvacious brick girls, subway odysseys, fertility figures, and Technicolor weaponry.
