LA Art in New York brings together a small, proud band of the West Coast's most dynamic contemporary-art galleries. Although the sheer number of contributors makes it impossible to identify a particular LA style, galleries like Carl Berg, Mary Goldman, Sandroni Rey, Richard Heller, Roberts & Tilton, and Western Project are known for edgy programs that mix local and international talent. On the whole, viewers can expect lush figurative and semi-abstract paintings, mixed-media installations, and large-scale photo works that make good on LA's reputation for savvy, splash, and experimentation.
