For its third year in New York, PULSE allocates two new spaces: the first for high-stress PERFORMANCE, and the second for taking PAUSE. In the former, Mary Coble endures 12 hours of insult-ridden, inkless tattoos with Blood Script. For a well-deserved breather, head to a reading room provided by Parsons New School, and explore aesthetic issues relevant to today's MFA students. Elsewhere, the fair focuses on large-scale installation and sculpture. Paul Sepuya exposes the relationship between portrait photographer and sitter in Subject-Object proof #2, while Andy Yoder melds two childhood memories into a sickly-sweet licorice sculpture of his father's wingtip shoes.
