Music: Rock/Pop Sian Alice Group w/ Mike Bones

Sian Alice Group have only been kicking around the London music scene for about a year, but they've already cultivated a mysterious allure inversely proportional to their small output. The growing buzz, however, is justifiable: on their two releases, the Nightsong 7-inch and newly minted full-length 59.59 (both on the Social Registry imprint), they take up the muted, pitch-perfect harmonies and glacially paced arrangements favored by slowcore champs Low circa 2003, but add slide-guitar lines, delicate filigrees of violin, and disarmingly thick sheets of distortion to the mix. It's a rich, if largely derivative sound, but one that hints at a bright future for this sprawling octet.
