In his book Tales of Times Square, former Screw editor Josh Alan Friedman spins gritty, grimy gold from the quarter peeps and live sex shows in Times Square during the late-'70s and early-'80s. For the 21st-anniversary expanded re-release of Friedman's love note to the Forty Deuce's past, the Museum of Sex screens Paul Stone's 2006 documentary inspired by the book. Grainy Super-8 footage of smut-peddlers, protesters, and runaways connect the area's spotty past with its glossy present. You may even find yourself getting misty-eyed over the demise of the urban squeegee.
