Itamar Moses is a young, successful playwright who happens to be best friends with a young, incredibly successful novelist named Jonathan Safran Foer. A fictionalized account of this relationship appears in Moses' touching off-Broadway play The Four of Us, in which the two bright, sensitive young men (or their onstage incarnations, anyway) navigate both their careers and their friendship. As the play progresses through flashbacks and other theatrical devices, their story becomes at once individual and universal. After all, envy is difficult for everyone — especially when money and celebrity are involved.
