J'entends plus la guitare is Philippe Garrel's tribute to art-rock muse Nico. Though most famous for her recordings with the Velvet Underground, the German-born icon was also a Warhol Superstar, an occasional model, and, during their relationship, a frequent star in Garrel's films. It was only years after Nico's death that the French director turned his lens on her private legacy. The result is a mournful look at youthful hubris, chronicling the life cycle and aftermath of a love affair — from infatuation and co-dependence to adultery and doubt — that obviously references the real-life couple. This theatrical re-release features a sharp new printing of the original celluloid.
