Today's Coney Island mostly harbors the seedy residue of its bygone glory, but the neighborhood remains a romantic icon. Though there have long been rumors of its inevitable demolition, these fears were recently dismissed when the city government unveiled an ambitious plan to preserve the area. A Thrill Ride to Save Coney Island supports this effort by showcasing a few of the local performers who have defined the area's unique subculture. Tonight's eccentric acts include host and longtime boardwalk dancer Miss Cyclone (aka Angie Pontani), Scotty the Blue Bunny, and the Fisherman Xylophonic Orchestra.
