More Flavor: Lecture Trevor Paglen
-
- Courtesy Trevor Paglen
Geographer/artist Trevor Paglen uncovers hidden worlds by examining the surface of things. In a 2006 book, Torture Taxi, Paglen and journalist A.C. Thompson revealed how the CIA used private aircraft to shuttle detainees to and from secret prisons. For his most recent book, I Could Tell You but Then You Would Have to Be Destroyed by Me, Paglen photographed patches worn by military personnel working on classified projects, and found secret codes within the patches' bizarre slogans, occult symbols, and cartoonish figures. Tonight Paglen presents a slide show of the patches, discussing the top-secret info behind the images and the eerie world of clandestine military culture.
