Performing Arts: Dance Stephen Petronio Company

Stephen Petronio's choreography is inextricably linked with the music it accompanies — his latest production could just as easily be a concert for celebrated downtown musicians, if it weren't for Petronio's footwork. The program includes an encore performance of BLOOM, in which Rufus Wainwright sings the poetry of Emily Dickinson and Walt Whitman, in addition to two world premieres: Beauty and the Brut, a  Fischerspooner-scored work about the irrational attraction of opposites; and This Is the Story of a Girl in a World, five gender-blurring works set to music by Antony, Lou Reed, and young new-music composer Nico Muhly.
