More Flavor: Shopping

Brownstoner's Brooklyn Flea

New Yorkers love their local secrets, whether it's an awesome taco truck or a hole-in-the-wall art gallery. Every Saturday in Fort Greene, the folks behind the Brownstoner blog stage their own fancy flea market for shopping insiders. From K.T. Higgins' custom repro bikes to pre-war marble mantle pieces, from screen-printed t-shirts to DJ $mall ¢hange's vinyl collection, the vintage vendors offer a welcome alternative to Fulton Mall. You can also find lots of fresh sandwiches and pastries for sale, so if a Danish modern coffee table isn't a realistic option, you can at least pick up one of Kumquat's bourbon cupcakes for a buck.

Note:

Starting Sunday, June 14, the Brooklyn Flea also sets up shop under the Brooklyn Bridge, every Sunday through October.
