Music: Rock/Pop Sabbat

Not to be confused with the more prolific Japanese black metallers of the same name, Britain's Sabbat imploded in 1990 after releasing only two albums. Still, they heralded the rise of black metal, carrying the torch that bands like Venom and Celtic Frost ignited in the early '80s. At the time, the five-piece from Nottingham were heavier and more aggressive than any other UK band, giving stateside acts like Slayer and Exodus a run for their money. Having reunited to tour with Cradle of Filth in 2006, Sabbat prove that their acerbic thrash still holds up against today's most extreme metal acts.
