More Flavor: Discussion Satyagraha Project: A Public Forum

Satyagraha, which translates as "grasping the truth," was Mahatma Gandhi's philosophy of nonviolent resistance, popularized during the Indian Independence Movement. Tonight, the Garrison Institute presents a free program at St. John the Divine that includes a panel discussion of Satyagraha and its relevance to today's pressing social concerns. Participants include Gandhi's grandson and biographer Rajmohan Gandhi; Sri Lankan Sarvodaya movement-founder Dr. A.T. Ariyaratne; and Philip Glass, performing excerpts from his opera (which opened at Lincoln Center on Friday) named after Gandhi's famous concept.
