Rare is the drummer whose compositions attract as much praise as his timekeeping; Bobby Previte is one of the few. For his second year of unscripted duets on Front Street, he's once again in the estimable company of fellow downtown musicians — this year's crop includes laptop and electronic music pioneer Ikue Mori, altoist Briggan Krauss, and DJ Olive — with visuals provided by Benton-C Bainbridge. Jazz is the starting point of their collaborative improvisations, but as these free-form concerts unspool over five consecutive nights, the music should remain open-ended.
