Tamara Kostianovsky's debut solo exhibition, Actus Reus, is the second part of a three-part series, titled The Proper Animal and hosted by Black & White gallery. With a surprising deftness of touch, Kostianovsky creates the appearance of butchered cattle flesh, sewn together with used clothing and suspended between visions of cushioned toys and bloody beef. The work exposes the methodical process of transforming animal into a consumer product while forcing the observer to ponder the routine violence of a slaughterhouse.
