New York Comic Con features a who's-who lineup of illustrators, writers, filmmakers, artists, and actors. With celebrities like postmodern author Neil Gaiman and horror maestro Guillermo del Toro jazzing up a guest list too long for anyone's attention span, the weekend-long conference is an opportunity for both hero-worship and industry inquiry. The more than 300 events include panels, screenings, seminars, and autograph sessions, all of which celebrate the world of comics — from superhero icons to manga and indie. This year's festival also honors Marvel titan Stan Lee (he who helped father Spider Man, the Fantastic Four, the Hulk, and X-Men) with the first-ever New York Comics Legend Award.
