After touring with Daft Punk, reigning supreme on any number of indie blogs, and helping put France back on the dance-music map, future electro-mavens SebastiAn and Kavinsky are back in the US. Recording for Ed Banger and the Air-owned Record Maker imprints, respectively, both producers have stepped out of the "French touch" shadow with their epic, grinding, and supremely moody synth pop. Kavinsky's odes to electronic '80s soundtracks (sounding a bit like Goblin taking on Beverly Hills Cop) and Sebastian's layered left-field bangers are a welcome break from the archaic electro that's come to haunt clubs like the ghost of electroclash's past.
