Gang Starr's early-'90s hit single "Work" could easily be a description of DJ Premier's life. The veteran turntablist — whose new label Year Round gives underground artists a leg up — still takes his job as a beatmaker and leader in the hip-hop community seriously. Tonight, as part of his monthly residency at APT, Primo brings sick beats to the decks, jumping from old-school Jigga and Biggie cuts to the fresh NYGz tracks he's been creating. Non Phixion alum DJ Eclipse joins the throwback party, spinning a sampler of indie- and jazz-influenced hip-hop.
