Don't let the commedia dell'arte name fool you — this 60-year-old troupe is very nieuwe wereld. Artistic director Ed Wubbe mows synthetic grass in The Green, in which seven men dance to Bach's St. Matthew Passion. De Bruiden (The Brides) is Wubbe's all-female return to the ritualistic lair of Stravinsky's Les Noces, which should provide an interesting comparison when Jerome Robbins revives it next month at the New York City Ballet. Finally, Stephen Foster songs set the backdrop for Marco Goecke's Der Rest ist Schweigen (The Rest is Silence), giving "do-da-do-da-day" a new meaning.
