Hosted by the most diverse of the five boroughs and now in its third year, the week-long Asian Cultural Festival showcases Asian and Asian-American comedians, musicians, dancers, and actors in acts ranging from kid-friendly to edgy. Highlights include dance performances from Ragamala Music and Dance Theater and Khristina Wong's one-woman show, Wong Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest; the Ragamala ensemble evokes Hindi deities with traditional Bharatanatyam dance and arranges modern pieces to soul and Japanese taiko drumming, while Wong offers irreverent laughs aplenty in her serio-comedy, as she goes cuckoo unraveling yarns and taboos about Asian-American women.
