University Settlement says…

Ever since its beginnings in the South Bronx, hip-hop has been a till-the-breaka-dawn kind of thing — so it's fitting that today's event rages for a full 12 hours. First stop: the Performance Project, where an afternoon film series follows the lives of young revolutionaries in Uganda, hip-hop activists in Senegal, and women displaced by gentrification in DC's Chocolate City. Next, wander over to the LES afterparty for live performances from artists repping the global diaspora, including Mexican soul-rapper Bocafloja, Sierra Leone's gully-rhyming Chosan, and Brooklyn's own Juggaknot deckmaster DJ Boo.
