Jonas Mekas probably didn't have a hard time scoring this two-day, three-program engagement at Anthology — after all, he founded the place. Mekas was one of the first American filmmakers to take full advantage of the hand-held camera, capturing indelible images of Warhol, Lennon, Ginsberg, and others. From Bolex to digital, Mekas uses his camera like an appendage, taking it with him into small, unexpected corners with an intimate nonchalance. Today's program screens digital works from 2006's somewhat self-explanatory project, 365 Films. And if you miss the screening, you can catch the 85-year-old artist puttering around the East Village, chasing women.
