Music: Rock/Pop Hate Eternal w/ Soilent Green, Skeletonwitch, and Toxic Holocaust

Metal fans tend to speak about everything in hyperbole (Epic! Brutal! Technicaaaaaal!), but when it comes to Tampa Bay's Hate Eternal, it's hard to overstate their heavy, extreme strain of death metal. The four-piece, fronted by one-time Morbid Angel guitarist Erik Rutan, doubles the drama that many other American metal bands eschew, and the resulting down-tuned cacophony shocks and awes like an Old Testament plague. Soilent Green take a more New World approach, channeling the manic fire-and-brimstone sermons of backwoods preachers and the grumble of Hell's Angel hogs into crusty sludge. Rounding out the bill, black-and-thrash-tinged death metallers Skeletonwitch join punk-metal outfit Toxic Holocaust.
