Today's metalcore poseurs are self-hating jocks who abandoned NYC's hardcore boys' club in favor of eyeliner, black army caps, and ridiculously long band names like Between the Buried and Me. Back in the day, Agnostic Front were the LES' beefed-up, shit-kicking answer to DC's preachy underground and LA's snot-nosed brats. Together with Madball and Breakdown, AF represent the golden age of crew-mentality, anti-positivity hardcore from back when the Bowery was still a kind of scary place. Brush up on your pit-survival skills for tonight — kung-fu moves might earn you an elbow to the eye-socket.
