NYC-based singer/songwriter Nina Nastasia has long been a cult favorite, with high-profile fans like late BBC tastemaker John Peel and uber-producer Steve Albini. Nastasia's five albums — all recorded by Albini, whose signature austere aesthetic is a perfect showcase for her understated yet deeply emotive voice — are dark worlds unto themselves, whether she's backed by a band or only her acoustic guitar. Her Southern gothic sensibilities were perfectly matched with Dirty Three drummer Jim White on last year's excellent collaboration You Follow Me.
