Music: Classical New York Miniaturist Ensemble

If you shun classical music for its lack of brevity, here's your deliverance. Founded four years ago by Juilliard grads, the New York Miniaturist Ensemble serve up contemporary classical music in bite-sized chunks, playing pieces that are only 100 notes long or less. Drawing from a large repertoire, most of which were composed for the group (whose core is violin, piano, and clarinet, augmented tonight by cello and voice), the NYME bring precision and coherence to these works, most shorter than two minutes, giving listeners a soupçon of many composers in a single evening.
