Film: Shorts Early Short Films of Barbara Hammer

Groundbreaking experimental filmmaker Barbara Hammer screens eight of her early, lesbian-feminist short films, as part of the ongoing events leading up to MIX NYC's gay-and-lesbian film festival in November. The three-minute Gay Day (1973) is a traipse through non-monogamy in the '70s, while Pictures for Barbara (1981) chronicles the filmmaker's correspondence with her former lover (also named Barbara), and Sync Touch (1981) is a humorous look at her childlike curiosity regarding human touch. Hammer appears in person tonight to answer any questions.
